The Celestron 114LCM computerised telescope automatically locates the wonders of the Universe with its motorised mount and on-board computer. Simply set up the telescope using Celestron's unique in-built SkyAlign technology, and the telescope can take you on a tour of the best objects to see from your location and time or simply select from the 4,000 object database what you wish to observe on the keypad.

The telescope comprises of a 114mm reflector optical tube, a lightweight computerised mount and a sturdy aluminium tripod and can be set up in minutes with no tools required. Although best used for Astronomical viewing, the telescope is also capable of viewing land based objects. The included eyepieces allow for 40x and 111x magnification, which are perfect for exploring the Moon's surface and Planets.

Reflector Telescope: For objects outside of our solar system, generally referred to as “deep sky objects, or “DSO’s” a reflector telescope generally offers larger objective sizes to gather more light in order to see such objects. A reflector telescope uses a mirror to reflect the light gathered through the hollow tube of the telescope into the eyepiece. The eyepiece is located at the top of the tube along with the focussing mechanism. The main advantage of a reflector telescope is that generally they offer larger objective sizes vs a refractor to gather the all-important light. Perfect for the more intermediate telescope users and deep sky observations. They do require more care when handling vs a refractor, due to the fact the telescope tube is not sealed at the front, which makes them better suited to more intermediate or older users.

Computerised Mount

A computerised mount is perfect for the beginner or more intermediate user. The mount itself is of an Altazimuth (AZ) type, however there is a computer and motors built in. This gives the advantage that the telescope can move itself on the mount to point at an object in the sky and also track it through the evening. Generally, a computerised mount includes a wired hand controller for the user to interact with it.

All Celestron computerised mounts have thousands of objects pre-installed in the on board database and are capable of taking the user on an automated “Sky Tour”. This feature highlights all the best objects in the sky at that location, time and date and automatically moves the telescope for the user.  Due to these capabilities, these types of mounts are generally known as “Go to” mounts.
